  • Verónica Mesalles

    Verónica Mesalles worked in the Culture, Family, and Early Development Lab for five years, where she predominantly conducted research on the development of early math skills in Latino children. She is currently getting her PhD in Psychology and Social Intervention Program at NYU to expand culturally informed research at the intersection of psychology and education and improve methodologies used to study marginalized communities. Although she is not directly involved in the lab anymore, she continues to work on some projects with the team. She holds a BS in Applied Psychology and an MS in Applied Statistics from NYU Steinhardt.

  • Isabel Figueroa Fernández

    Isabel is a student in the Applied Psychology program with a minor in music at the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development at New York University. She was research assistant for the NYU CFD Lab (Culture, Families, and Early Development) from 2021-2023. Her passions include bilingualism and language development, as well as the intersectionality of psychology and music!

  • Cidney Fernández

    Cidney is a masters’ student in the Harvard School of Education. She graduated from the Applied Psychology undergraduate program at NYU’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. Her work for the team consisted of coding data, and helping with other research tasks. She is interested in the intersection of development, education and the arts.

  • Melanie Cárdenas

    Melanie is a Anthropology undergraduate student in the program of Colombian School Of Arts And Sciences at George Washington University. She worked as a research assistant from 2020-2022 on NYU’s Math in the Everyday Activities of Latino Families (MEAL) project. Her work for the team in MEAL consisted of coding activities and assisting with other tasks.

  • Nathalia Sánchez

    Nathalia was a research assistant at the CFD lab from 2021-2022, and was involved with the coding of teaching styles and pretend play in parent-child interactions. She graduated from NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, where she completed an individualized major exploring the ways that narratives can inform educational practices.

  • Hallie Goldman

    Hallie worked with the team from September 2020 until December 2021. She was an undergraduate at Hobart and William Smith colleges where she graduated with a BA in Psychology and a minor in Spanish. Hallie currently works as a Care Navigator at Quartet Health, where she helps connect patients to mental healthcare. Hallie plans on pursuing her PsyD in Clinical Psychology in the fall of 2022.

  • Sergio M. Osoria Ramirez

    Sergio received his B.S. in Applied Psychology from NYU Steinhardt. He volunteered as a Research Assistant at the CFD lab for two years. Currently, he works as a Research Associate at the Columbia University School of Nursing, where he provides support to multiple NIH-funded projects in HIV prevention and management such as recruiting and enrolling study subjects from diverse and vulnerable populations, collecting observational and survey data, managing logistics, and performing other research activities. Sergio plans to pursue an MPH to continue his passion for research and practice in public health.

  • Macarena Kruger

    Macarena was an undergraduate at APUG and graduated in 2021. She volunteered at the CFD lab for two years and a half, where she learned how to conduct research with the support of an amazing team. She currently works as a Postgraduate Research Associate at the Division of Quality and Innovation at Yale New Haven Psychiatric Hospital. She and her colleagues are developing strategies to implement measurement-based care (MBC) at the system level, as well as investigating adolescent treatment drop out reasons to improve patient engagement. Macarena plans to pursue a PhD. in Clinical Psychology to expand her research skills and gain clinical experience.
